The finals of the hugely popular Watch The Throne invitational for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate played out this weekend, with some of the biggest names in the Smash Ultimate scene competing for first place. A lot was riding on this tournament as the winner would not only receive a hefty sum of prize money but a free flight & hotel for Genesis X, and the top three contestants would receive free entry to the event as well.

Almost every big name was in attendance for this San Jose event, including the likes of MkLeo, Sparg0, Light, Tweek, acola, Bloom4Eva, Gluttony, Dabuz, Sonix, Miya, and more.

The tournament ran for three days, with the Top 16 leading into the Top 8 occurring on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

This event played out in a similar style to the recently discontinued Smash Summit series of tournaments, where players and famous commentators take turns giving commentary over the various matches.

After a hard-fought bracket, the winner finally emerged as Sparg0, who did so using Cloud and Pyra/Mythra.

With Genesis X looming on the horizon, all eyes will surely be on Sparg0 to see if he can recreate the magic he managed to pull off at Watch The Throne.
